Stress Effect the Immune System
Stress effect the immune system, does it? Everyone experience stress in day-to-day life. It might result of very small event like frequent traffic signals when you are in hurry or stress experienced by students during or before their academic tests or public speaking. So stress is part and parcel of our life. So it very important to know if, stress effect the immune system.
Well we all know that stress affects our immune system. Various studies and research has shown that stress can suppress the immune system in most cases and in some cases immune system show boost in the immune system under stress.
Short-term stress is observed to cause or have positive effect on immune system. Example stress caused due to insect bite prompt our immune system to prepare itself to fight against infection. This is immune system response is at cellular level.
But chronic or long-term stress is observed to have negative effect on immune system. In contrast to short-term stress the immune system response is broader level. Ill or old age people are more prone to stress-related changes to their immune system.
If we look into more technical aspect, the psychologist have observed the CD8 cells which are know as suppressors of proper functioning of our immune system. The CD8 cells increase drastically under stress conditions, thus affecting the immune system. It offcourse observed in cases which shows high heart rate change and catecholamine change when under stress [Catecholamine are the chemicals by human body that work in nerve transmission].
