Are you one of those who constantly looks like a frying pan? Believe me it’s a tough ride to achieve clear skin and if you’re already battling through it, then hats off to you for your daily ordeal. Oily skin solutions can be quite a study for someone who far too embarrassed with their shiny faces; but then like everything else in life, this skin type too has its remedies.

Basics on Oily Skin
Generally people who have oily skin are either born with it; which simply means it is hereditary, or have something known as overtly productive sebaceous glands. These glands work over time and are essentially responsible for the oily skin that you now possess! The good news is this skin type is generally slower to show fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. Now ain’t that great! The downside, however, can include more frequent breakouts, large pores and a greasy appearance, etc. Oily skin solutions are not easy to track down; but once understood, they become easier to deal with.

Generally heredity, diet, hormones, weather and habits such as smoking all play a role in the condition of your skin. It’s strange that smoking would be involved in this, a symptom not known by many. Well for starters, smoking makes you generate heat and with the sweat that’s inbuilt with the heat, you tend to make a mess of your skin through the perspiration. So if you want to have great skin and great teeth, be the first to propagate and spread an awareness against smoking! Second, be sure to gulp in plenty of water each day to avoid shiny patches in your face, dehydrated bodies can make profusely dry and can demand the existing over active sebaceous glands to work overtime and give you a messy look. The following steps can help you minimize the negative effects of an oily skin and could pose as oily skin solutions:

Oil free solutions
Wash your face as often as possible or even two or three times a day with a mild cleanser. Take care in using only those cleansers that do not include perfumes or additives. Keep your skin very clean, but don’t scrub it too hard.

Use an oil-free moisturizer and cosmetics. This may sound too commonplace but once you’ve had a good scrub, chances are that you feel the need for dabbing a little moisturizer. Avoid the normal to dry skin types as like you, your skin is special too and you need to treat it with an oil-free base.

Thanks to the oily texture of your skin, you can use a clay-based facemask about two or three times a week. This may prove beneficial to those who have this fetish for cleanliness, and it’s noted that people who have an oily skin suffer from this.

As far as possible, choose products containing alpha-hydroxy acids. These not only remove dead cells but they also give your skin a smoother appearance.

As a home remedy, you can mash up a small amount of papaya for your own fruit acid mask. Smear this on your skin and let it sit on for 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse.

Steam your skin several times a week. Add chamomile, lavender oil or dried herbs such as rosemary, parsley or thyme to the water. A fragrant bath your skin will be able to feel great thanks to the aromas and will breathe easy, instead of making you look and feel awful!

Keep your skin hydrated by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. This can be followed by other skin types too, the only difference is that oily skin tends to melt from time to time so its best if you could follow this regimen, bearing in mind that these need to be eight tall glasses each day!

Whatever you eat, you’ll find your body re-acting in the same manner. If you consume too much of oily stuff and fats in your diet, you are most likely to be prone to acne and oily skin. So as far as possible eat light and even better try placing yourself on a liquid diet of fruits and juices. This will help you detoxify your body.

Watch your sun exposure. Although the sun may seem to dry your skin, too much heat actually stimulates the production of more oil. The simple logic being that heat induces you to sweat and sweat accumulated from the sebaceous glands can make your face oilier than it originally was.

You can also supplement your diet with B-complex vitamins, vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin E. B complex can help your system to get internally cleaned and can also add in an extra zing because of you feeling light as a result.

Sometimes a facial scrub can also help you in getting rid of excessive oils, especially from your face, as this is what gives in the first impression.

You could make your own facial scrub by mixing 2 tbsp. almond meal with 1 tbsp. ground lemon rind and 1 tbsp. powdered milk. Make sure that you do not add in even a hint of oil as that would make your concoction oily.

You could also make your own clay mask by mixing green clay powder with water or honey and applying it to your face. Leave this on for about 15 minutes or until the mask starts cracking and then rinse.

In conclusion, it would be better if you stuck with the basics. Experts suggest that facial cleansing helps a lot. You could also add in a pack a pre-moistened cleansing pad if you won't be around a water basin throughout the day. At least that gives in the right signals of being productive at work.

Understand that dermatologists and aestheticians often disagree on which types of soaps or cleansers to use' but all agree that once you find a product that works well for your skin, you should continue using it. So there’s no hard and fast rule for you to use a particular product. Most skin specialists insist that you be your own doctor before you consult them.

Avoid using make-up at all times and especially the foundation. You could stick to your face powder, but try and use more natural products and processes that help you get rid of the shiny effect on your face.

Despite being a cleansing freak, avoid using cleansers all the time especially those that tend to over dry skin your skin. Its difficult to believe but this can in turn cause your skin to produce even more oil than usual.

Use only oil-free moisturizers and sunscreen products' so that they don’t clog the pores of your skin.

Wash your hair everyday with a mild shampoo. If your skin is oily, then your scalp will be too. You could also wash them every other day if your scalp is mildly oily. There is natural secretion of oils in your scalp; if your scalp is too oily then you might land up in a mess if you don’t keep it clean. An oily scalp would also mean pimples and acne sprouting all over your face.

Lastly, bear in mind that your efforts to keep your oily skin clear can only go so far, as you may be able too, especially if you’ve got oily skin in your genes.
