Use of Evista (RALOXIFENE) in Osteoporosis Treatment and Evista (RALOXIFENE) Side Effects

Use of Evista (Raloxifene) in Osteoporosis Treatment

Evista (Raloxifene) a member of the class selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) is most commonly used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis (a bone disease that weakens the bones) especially in postmenopausal women. In osteoporosis bones become so weak that even a mild stress like lifting, jogging or bending may cause fracture. Presently, men can't use Evista (Raloxifene).

Evista (Raloxifene) works by acting like estrogen, a female hormone produced by the body. Like estrogen, Evista (Raloxifene) helps in osteoporosis treatment by preventing bone loss and increasing bone mass density. But it doesn't affect the uterus and breast the way estrogen does. Evista (Raloxifene) is taken in a pill form with a glass of water daily at a same time. Even if you miss a dose don't take double dose next day as it should be taken only once.
